Vegetables/Calorie Rankings

Every crop in the calculator, ranked for your climate zone. Pick your zone and a ranking below, then scroll down through the full list -- from the biggest calorie contributor at the top to the smallest at the bottom. By default only crops with a genuinely Great or Good fit for your zone are shown -- marginal ("Workable") and non-viable crops are left out unless you ask to see them, since a crop that's technically listed as viable but only manages 60% yield can still out-rank a much better-suited one on calories alone.

"Great & Good fit only" is the default view for a reason. A crop can be calorie-dense enough to still rank well even at the 60% yield penalty a "Workable" (marginal/challenging) zone rating applies -- peanut in a Maritime zone is a good example. Switch to "+ Workable (marginal)" above if you want to see those too, clearly tagged with an amber dot rather than mixed in unlabelled.

Water efficiency and frost/heat hardiness only work for crops with a published growing guide so far (18 of the 55, marked with a link in the list) -- those two sorts need real researched water-need and survivable-temperature figures that don't exist yet for every crop. Everything else still appears in the list under those sorts, just labelled “No data yet” and sorted to the bottom rather than guessed at.
